Snow Angels

By: Midnight

"Snow angels, daddy... are snow angels real?" The elder bear looked down at his cub. He picked up the little bear and walked over to a large recliner. He flopped down in it, the recliner creaking alittle under the bear's weight. "Son, snow angels are... well, these little figures that are made in the snow... And, well, they don't really do much." The little bear was opening his mouth to say something but there was a knock at the door. The old bear set his cub on the ground and lazily walked to the door. "Who would be knocking at this time of the year? It's almost Chirtsmas." he opened the large oak door to a tall, lightly dreesed, pale blue furred wolf.

"Cough, would you mind if I stayed the night sir? I'm not sure I can walk the rest of the way today." The bear helped the wolf in. "Sure, I don't mind if you stay, make yourself at home." he led the wolf to the living room. The wolf politely took a seat next to the fire, and the bear sat back down in his recliner. "So, may I ask what you were doing out there mister?..." the wolf looked away from the fire. "Malk, just call me Malk. And I don't really know why I was wondering around out there, mister?..." The bear smiled warmly. "Sal, and this is my son Jo." the wolf looked around. The small living room had nothing special. A warm fire place, stuff to sit on, small tables next to the chairs. Malk picked up a picture of three bear. Sal and Jo were in it along with a female probably Sal's wife. "Can I ask where you're wife is Sal?" The bear looked kinda of saddened. "My wife is dead." the fire cackled. "I'm sorry to hear that. I bet you loved her very much." the bear nodded. He turned on the radio.

"Today shall remain clear and sunny, but it really looks to be like a white chirtmas tomarrow. Snow will be coming in on northern winds and will have the area blanketed by earily morning." He turned off the radio. "Daddy, can we go play in the snow in the morning?" Sal hugged the little bear and nodded. "I'm going to make hot cocoa, want any Malk?" the wolf shok his head, his pale blue eyes meeting the bear's gentle hazel colored one. "I'm warm enough, I think I'm going to move farther away from the fire." The wolf got up and sat in a chair furthest away from the heat. "Ok, come on son." the little bear followed after his dad carrying a toy truck. "Poor family." Malk said to himself. "Jo must miss his mother, but he keeps it so well hidden. If it snows tomarrow I'll be able to help them." He noticed Sal and Jo coming back and stared at the mugs he was carrying of hot cocoa. "Something wrong Malk?" the wolf shook his head as Sal gave his cub the smaller mug of cocoa. "After this you're going to bed Jo." the little bear nodded.

Malk followed the little bear as he walked to his bedroom. Jo opened his door to a small room, it was empty or, just felt empty. There were some posters on the walls and blocks and toy cars scattered everywhere. Jo walked over to his bed and got on his knees. "Dear lord, as I lay myself down to sleep. I wish for you to bless my dad... and my mom who's up there with you. Oh, lord if you could just send her back to us I'd be most grateful." the cub looked back to the wolf and climbed into bed. "Good Night sir." the wolf smiled. "Good night, little one." Sal stepped up behind the wolf and placed a paw on his shoulder. "Malk, your room is this way." The old bear led the wolf away from Jo's room and walked him to his room. "The bathroom is just across the hall, if you need anything my room's at the end of the hall." The wolf nodded and opened his bed room door. It even more empty than Jo's room, empty walls, just a bed and window. Malk walked over to the window and opened it shutting the door to his room. "Please let it snow." he undressed and threw his clothes on the edge of the bed. He sat on his bed in his undies and looked out the window, letting the cold wind blow over his fur. He layed down and feel asleep to the cold wind and the sound of snow starting to fall.

"Mister Malk, wake up! It's snowing!" The wolf yawned to the little bear calling from outside his window. "I'll be out there in a minute where's your dad?" he asked the cub as he slipped on his pants. "He's out here too." the wolf didn't even bother to put his shirt back on and climbed out the window. "Good." He walked over to the bears and feel backward into the snow. "Uh, Mister Malk, shouldn't you be wearing a shirt?" Sal asked the wolf. The wolf shook his head and slowly got up. The snow on the ground followed him up, and was forming two majestic looking wings made of snow. "Both of you have shown great kindness and love. And now that it's time for me to leave it's time for me to repay you for your kindness and beliefs." he pats the cub on the head. "What you want most will show up tonight." The bears didn't know how to react seeing the wolf with the wings made of snow. Malk's wings started to flap as he lifted off the ground and into the sky. "Have a Merry Chritsmas!" he yelled down to them. The bears looked up to the wolf flying away and Jo looked up to his dad. "Daddy, was Malk a snow angel." The bear shook his head in disbelif. "I... I don't know son, anyway let's go back inside." he lead the little bear inside.

Later, that day. Jo was opening the last gift he got from Santa Claus, It was a toy train. "Daddy, what do you think Malk meant when he said what we want the most will show up tonight?" The elder bear shrugged. "I don't know son." His ear twitched as he heard a sound of the front door opening. "I'm home!" the little cub looked up from his train set and to the front door. "Mmm...mm.mm... Mommie!"

The End... Merry Chirtsmas!
